- Black is King is a visual album directed and executive produced by the singer, which will stream exclusively on Disney Plus on 31 July.
- The film honours the "voyagers of Black families throughout time".
- The trailer, released on Sunday, features SA stars Connie Chiume, Warren Masemola and Nandi Madida.
Another day, another surprise from Beyoncé.
After the surprise release of her track Black Parade on Juneteenth, Bey had fans going crazy once again when the trailer for her new visual album titled, Black is King, dropped on Sunday.
Directed and executive produced by Beyoncé, Black is King is based on the music of The Lion King: The Gift - an album curated by the singer for the 2019 remake of Disney classic The Lion King.

According to Variety, upon announcing the upcoming release of the visual album, Disney and Beyoncé's Parkwood Entertainment said: "The film is a story for the ages that informs and rebuilds the present. A reunion of cultures and shared generational beliefs. A story of how the people left most broken have an extraordinary gift and a purposeful future."
Black is King honours the "voyagers of Black families throughout time" as it tells the story of "a young king's transcendent journey through betrayal, love and self-identity".
The trailer for the film celebrates black lives with stunning visuals which include famous faces from South Africa.
Local fans were quick to spot Black Panther actor Connie Chiume, award-winning star Warren Masemola and singer and presenter Nandi Madida.
Black is King premieres on Disney Plus on 31 July.
