Cape Town – Hillary and Chelsea Clinton are the latest celebs to come to the defence of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
Speaking to the Sunday Times, when asked if they felt Meghan, specifically, was an inspiring and "gutsy" women, they both exclaimed, "Yes!" before the 2016 presidential candidate said, "I'm a huge Meghan Markle fan."
Commenting on the relentless shaming of the duchess by the press, Hillary said, "I do want to say that the way she's been treated is inexplicable.
"I think if the explanation is that she's biracial, then shame on everybody."
Chelsea added, "I also think it's because she proudly had a career first and has a voice that she thankfully continues to use. Anyone who has the temerity to break the mould of what has previously been established and expected often, unfortunately, receives criticism and bile that I don't understand. We've seen this pattern repeatedly. I don't know her, but as someone who respects her, I'm so grateful that she persists, and is unbowed, and is doing work she feels called to do. And also isn't willing to be bullied."
Earlier this month, Prince Harry released a statement addressing the media's "ruthless campaign" to tarnish Duchess Meghan's reputation.
"I have been a silent witness to her private suffering for too long," Harry said, before revealing Their Royal Highnesses would be fighting back.
Filing multiple lawsuits against various publications, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex made a bold move in proving they will not be bullied.
But Meghan, from a very young age, has always stood up for what is right and what she believes in.
At 11 years old, after watching a commercial for a dishwashing liquid and hearing that "women all over America are fighting greasy pots and pans" she wrote to Procter & Gamble – the company – and the most powerful and inspiring women she could think of at the time – one of them was then first lady, Hilary Clinton (funny how things work out) – explaining the ad was sexist.
Not too long after they changed the ad to "people all over America are fighting greasy pots and pans".
