Just when viewers thought Beatrice (Jolene Martin) and Hamilton's (Kevin Smith) love boat was in calm waters, his wife comes back from the dead.

Their relationship has survived a murder accusation, a stint in jail, and a dark secret from his time as an anti-Apartheid fighter. But will this ghost from Hamilton's past be the end for them? Even Wendy couldn't have planned this.

In the latest episode of Arendsvlei on kykNET & Kie (DStv 145) Kim Cloete made her appearance as Olivia Wolfe.

With her characters 'resurrection', we needed to find out more about Olivia.

In this Q&A, the seasoned actress tells us more about her character, what she's doing in Arendsvlei, and what this means for Beatrice and Hamilton's relationship.

Can you tell me a bit more about your character, and how she finds her way to Arendsvlei?

Olivia Wolfe is Hamilton's ex-wife. They separated soon after their daughter died in a car accident. As we all know, Hamilton told everyone that he also lost his wife in the car accident. Olivia is in touch with nature, cultures, languages, food, and people. She has the type of self-confidence that lures people to her. This isn't always in a romantic way; she just has this innate sense of self that draws those around her in. She's back in Arendsvlei to visit her daughter's grave.

Without giving away too much, can you reveal a bit more about the Hamilton, Beatrice, and Olivia storyline?

Beatrice has already gone through so much in the past. I don't know if she'll be able to survive this one as well. Hamilton told her that Olivia is dead, so they have to work through that lie first, before they even get to why Olivia is in Arendsvlei. Hamilton and Olivia also have unfinished business so I can only imagine how this will have an impact on Beatrice and Hamilton's relationship, especially now that Hamilton wants to propose!

Viewers are under the impression that Hamilton's wife is dead. How do you think they will receive her?

I think they will be confused and then wonder what Hamilton is hiding. Now you kind of question if Hamilton has been telling the truth at all.

Olivia has suffered a big tragedy in her life, losing her daughter. How has this shaped who she is?

Olivia is very much in touch with her feelings. She blamed Hamilton for her daughter's death and didn't want anything to do with him. She moved far away and kind of started a new life. She travelled all around the world to explore, and it was only now that she made peace with her beautiful daughter's death. She used her love for cooking to deal with all her feelings.

What's the biggest challenge about taking on this role?

I don't think there was a challenge per se. I see a lot of myself in Olivia, more in what I could identify in other characters. I also have a love for food, cultures, languages, and people. Olivia is an empath and so am I. We also have the same love for people. Olivia has a natural way of connecting with people.

Arendsvlei is unique, and almost singular, in its representation of the coloured experience in South Africa. What is it like to be part of a show like that?

I think it's amazing that our stories are finally being told and it's perfect timing, especially after successful series such as Onder Engele and Tussen Duiwels. It's not every day that you get to work with a room full of coloured people, that in itself is something wonderful to experience.

Tune in to Arendsvlei Monday – Wednesday at 20:00 on kykNET & Kie (DStv 145).
