  • Mexican actress Aracely Arámbula reprises her role as Altagracia Sandoval in the second season of Iron Rose.
  • The telenovela follows a powerful businesswoman who tries to save her kidnapped daughter and take revenge on her enemies.
  • The series airs weekdays at 20:00 on Telemundo (DStv 118).

"I am enchanted by a type of strong female character who fights and has the power and the conviction to change the things that she doesn't like, and to overcome every obstacle with greater force," says telenovela star Aracely Arámbula.

The Mexican actress has played several badass characters, from Lucía Durán in For Love and Justice to Gabriela Suárez in The Boss and Altagracia Sandoval in Iron Rose.

She reprises her role as Altagracia in the second season of Iron Rose, now showing weekdays on Telemundo (DStv 118).

In Season One - which premiered in 2016 – Altagracia, a powerful businesswoman, takes revenge on the men who sexually assaulted her when she was a teenager. She is also united with her daughter Monica (Danna Paola) but ends up fleeing the country to escape the long arm of the law.

About the response to the first season, the 45-year-old says that she loved the feedback from viewers: "It was a job I did with all my heart and part of my soul is in Iron Rose."

In 2019, the show was renewed for a second season and Aracely was thrilled to reprise her role as Altagracia.

"I enjoyed both seasons very much. Reincarnating Altagracia Sandoval filled me with emotion. A long time had passed, but I was waiting for her, and I enjoyed every chapter as if it were unique."

At the beginning of the second season, we find Altagracia in Rio de Janeiro. A fugitive in Mexico, she is forced to return when a tragedy strikes her daughter. This season, her main driving forces are to recover her power, to reunite with her daughter and to seek justice for the attacks from old and new enemies.

Aracely says that this season has more suspense and action but that there is a lot of passion and romance to look forward to.

"Altagracia will be caught between two men who will love her madly, to the point of risking everything they are and everything they have for her."

What she is most excited for viewers to see is the character's vulnerable side. She says that there were several challenges in playing Altagracia this season as she endures a lot of suffering when her daughter is kidnapped.

"Fans will see a more human and vulnerable side to Altagracia, although she will never lose her strength against her enemies or her thirst for revenge when they attack her loved ones."

Just like Season One, the telenovela has a strong social message too; it explores themes of corruption, family conflict and violence against women.

"I hope that the audience receives a message about the importance of family and a resolution of these social dramas," says Aracely.

When I'm not filming, I spend time with my family. I love to disconnect and enjoy all the things that I cannot do while filming. A character like Altagracia Sandoval needs a lot of concentration and time, so when I finish, I disconnect and give myself time to unwind and take a vacation with my family.
