After a break-in, Charlotte Bauer embarks on a quest to reclaim her identity, finding humour and an all too brief affirmation of youth.

It was an event waiting to happen, if you can call a house break-in an event. At least, was waiting for it to happen. Within a few months of moving into a new home anywhere in South Africa, it has happened. 

A same-old story for so many of us, what we euphemistically call a home invasion, which sounds like one of those TV shows where two men in frilly shirts come in while you're out and re-decorate the dining room.
