Daniel Craig overtakes Roger Moore to become the longest-serving James Bond

Cape Town - Daniel Craig is the longest-serving James Bond.

The 51-year-old has taken the number one spot from Sir Roger Moore.

According to the Press Association Daniel has been in the role for 14 years and has starred in four films since he was first announced as Bond in 2005.

During his 12-year stint as the character, Roger starred in seven films.

The number three and four spot goes to Pierce Brosnan and Sean Connery respectively.

Daniel will star in his fifth and final film, No Time To Die which is set to be released in April 2020.

The 007 actor has had a love-hate relationship with the character.

In a now-infamous interview with Time Out magazine in 2015, the actor said he would rather slash his wrists than to reprise the role.

"I'm over it at the moment. We're done. All I want to do is move on", he said.

A month after that interview, he backtracked on his comment and said he would continue playing the role as long as he was physically able to, reports The Guardian.
