'Wonder Woman 1984' release pushed back to August

Warner Bros has postponed the release of the upcoming Wonder Woman sequel due to the global Covid-19 pandemic.

Wonder Woman 1984 was scheduled to hit cinemas on 5 June it will now premiere on the big screen on 14 August.

Warner Bros chairman Toby Emmerich said in a statement: "When we greenlit Wonder Woman 1984, it was with every intention to be viewed on the big screen and are excited to announce that Warner Bros. Pictures will be bringing the film to theatres on 14 August. We hope the world will be in a safer and healthier place by then."

The film adaptation of Lin-Manuel Miranda's musical, In The Heights has been postponed indefinitely by the studio.

Scoob an animation based on the Scooby-Do characters and the thriller Malignant directed by James Wan have also been put on the backburner, reports Variety.
