Cape Town – Halsey has topped Ariana Grande on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart, snagging the number one spot with her single Without Me.
Ariana is now in position two with her smash hit, Thank U, Next.
This is Halsey’s first number one (as a solo artist) on the chart. Fans will, of course, remember her first appearance in the pole position - on the countdown - with the song, Closer by The Chainsmokers which spent 12 weeks at number one.
About her first number one – which was announced on Monday - Halsey wrote on Instagram: “#1 on billboard. wow. very overwhelmed and confused and so very very very VERY happy. this song came from a very lonely place, and brought me to one of the most loved and supported moments of my lifetime. This achievement is completely beyond my means of comprehending right now so I’ll get back to you guys when I find more eloquent and compelling things to say. Right now my brain is a washing machine of emotion. On a very high cycle. I love you very much (sic).”
