Desmond Dube to host new comedy game show

Johannesburg - SABC2 has a brand new game show #Karektas, starting on Friday, 12 May 2017 at 19:00.

Comedian Desmond Dube is the host of this studio based comedic variety television show #Karekters. Every week the viewers will be entertained by six resident comedians, Jovan Muthray, Josias Moleele, Nina Hastie, Tebogo Maunatlala , John Lata and Pule Welch known as the Karekters.

How it works

The contestants are grouped into two teams, paired with a celebrity guest as they go head-to-head on the five challenges given. The winning team gets bragging rights as the funniest #Karektas of the week.

Each episode begins with Desmond doing an opening monologue as Mama D, before he introduces the team captains, team members and guest celebrities.

The five challenges featured in the show are:

- The comedy sketch challenge called Di Karektas
- Hidden cameras where each team goes out to record tricks they play on South African citizens.
- Dlala Ngengoma is the third challenge where teams come up with impromptu songs with different themes.
- The Roast is the fourth challenge where team members get an opportunity to make fun of the other team’s guest celebrity.
- Lastly Mawaza News is an improvisation based game where team members must quickly come up with a news report based on random pictures chosen by the opposing team.

After each challenge the studio audience will vote for the team they believe was funnier. The winning team is then named the #Karektas of the week.
