e.tv cancels local drama 'Isipho'

Johannesburg - e.tv will no longer be airing the daily local drama series Isipho. 

The series revolves around a father, Moses Shezi (Nimrod Nkosi), a former academic whose peaceful life takes an unexpected turn when he experiences a telling vision that reveals his daughter's death.

Desperate to change the course of destiny, he sets out to find the four strangers who appeared in his vision, and it is clear that these strangers are not in any way ordinary: They have gifts.

The series aired its last episode on 19 December 2019.  

"The mutual decision to conclude production on the drama series is a strategic business one and was reached amicably by all parties involved," said a statement to the press. 

Isipho's executive producers Herbert Hadebe and Busisiwe Ntintili (HerbVision, The Ntintili Factory) said: "The opportunity to tell stories that uplift South African audiences and create employment for South African families is our mission. This fantastic experience has given us, as young companies, great courage to continue with the vision of upskilling our people and contributing to the growth of our film and television industry."

HerbVision is the smallest independent production company the channel ever commissioned for a prime time series. 

Viewers can watch re-runs of Isipho on free-to-air satellite platform Openview's eExtra channel 105, every Monday to Thursday at 10:25 until Sunday, 19 January 2020.
