Cape Town – With the highly anticipated final season premiere of Game of Thrones just around the corner, HBO is hard at work to make sure fans will have something to fall back on when it’s all over.
In a meaty press release on Monday, HBO revealed everything from the starring cast, the plot as well as all those working behind the scenes to make the pilot episode happen.

The cast
In October the cable company announced that Naomi Watts would be taking the lead role. While details about her character are under wraps Variety reported that she will be playing “a charismatic socialite hiding a dark secret.”

The rest of the cast has now been revealed.
According to the release, “Naomi Ackie, Denise Gough, Jamie Campbell Bower, Sheila Atim , Ivanno Jeremiah, Georgie Henley, Alex Sharp and Toby Regbo” will star alongside Josh Whitehouse and Naomi.
The plot
In June 2018, HBO released a statement saying the prequel will give viewers the chance to see “the world's descent from the golden Age of Heroes into its darkest hour.”

More details shared on Monday reveal fans will further get to explore “the horrifying secrets of Westeros’s history” as well as uncover “the true origin of the White Walkers”.
The production team
Jane Goldman and GoT author George R.R. Martin are listed as the creators of the untitled series. Both will also executive produce alongside SJ Clarkson.
The British film and TV director will also be directing the pilot episode.
