What's it like to win 'The Voice SA'? Tasché Burger tells us all!

Johannesburg – 19-year-old Tasché Burger made history by becoming the youngest and first ever woman to win The Voice SA.

The part-time waitress from Brackenfell, who was a firm favourite throughout the competition, racked up the lion's share of the votes that were cast during the final week of the show.

Tasché has been singing since childhood, and after matriculating last year, she's been taking singing lessons and started to gig professionally.

Hot off her win on Sunday Channel24 had a quick Q&A with the rising music star.

Let's take it back to your blind audition when all four coaches turned for you, what went through your mind and why did you choose Francois?

It was terrific, a four-chair turn! I was hoping for just one when I got four. It was crazy. I still can't believe that I got a four-chair turn, let alone win. I chose Francois because of the words he said to me: "I want you to be you". I just felt like we connected instantly. When I spoke to him, I knew I was going to get along with him and that we could become good friends.

What was going through your mind when Anele announced your name?

I was just star struck. Soné and I told each other on stage "if you win, I win". We were roommates from the start to the top two. We've both come a long way. When the top three were announced I was so happy that we were all women. From the beginning, all of the women in the competition wanted a woman to win this season. I am so honoured to take the title.

What are some of the challenges you faced while on the show?

The most difficult part for me was being away from home. We have been here for about two months and I miss my home, I miss braaing, my family, and friends. But it was all worth it. I can't wait to go home.

What are you going to miss about being on the show?

The busyness and learning. We learnt so much. I am going to miss singing on that stage. I am going to miss Anna-Marie who works in wardrobe. She is like a mom to me. I am going to miss all the coaches. I got used to seeing them every day. I am going to miss Darren [Hayward], the director. Everyone.

What is the biggest thing the show has taught you?

Patience. I don't have patience, and this is a hurry up and wait process. This show has taught me to wait, and that everything will work out.

What's the next move, do you know when you will start working on your album?

Hopefully this week. I am ready to drive to the studio right now. (Laughs) I am so ready for it. It has been my dream for so long. I am very excited!
