From the world’s longest reigning to the world’s wealthiest monarch, Queen Elizabeth continues to add to her collection of records.

We take a look at six of the applaudable Guinness World Records Her Majesty has achieved during her reign.

Longest reigning monarch

According to Guinness World Records, after celebrating her 94th birthday on 21 April, the queen reached a reign of 68 years and 75 days.

This comes after she succeeded the throne on 6 February in 1952, after the untimely passing of her father, King George VI.

The longest reigning monarch has also since exceeded Queen Victoria’s record of 63 years and 216 days from 20 June 1837 to 22 January 1901.

Oldest British queen

As of 2007, Queen Elizabeth II was ranked the oldest reigning monarch after exceeding that of her great-great-grandmother Queen Victoria of 81 years and 244 days, The Sun reports. And in 2008, she surpassed King George III’s record of 82 years.

Oldest queen in the world

Queen Elizabeth took over the title of the oldest living queen in the world in 2015 at the age of 89, succeeding King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia after his death at the age of 90, according to The Guardian.

Longest reigning (living) monarch in the world

At the age of 88 on 23 January, Her Majesty the Queen became the oldest reigning monarch taking over the title from King Bhumibol Adulyadej of Thailand, who died after a 70-year reign on October 13, 2016, Express UK reports.

The most faces on currencies

Queen Elizabeth II’s face features on the coinage of at least 35 countries which is more than any living monarch.

After she ascended to the throne in 1952 her face started popping up on various banknotes in different countries except for Antarctica. The first country to feature her face was Canada, the Washington Post reports.

Wealthiest queen

On the Forbes Power Women list for 2019, Queen Elizabeth ranked in at number 40. This comes after Business Insider reported that Queen Elizabeth accumulated an estimated total net worth of $530 million (R9.8 billion) as of 2016.
