Johannesburg - Now that we can all look forward to another royal wedding this year, let’s take a closer look at Princess Eugenie’s fiancé – Jack Brooksbank.
1. Savvy businessman
He runs his own wine merchant company, Jack Brooksbank Ltd, and is a manager of London hotspot Mahiki – a cocktail bar and club popular with celebrities.
2. Posh family
The 31-year-old comes from a privileged background – his father is an old Etonian and his family tree is littered with earls, baronets, knights . . . and even a few kings! Turns out he and Eugenie (27) are also distantly related – something that’s deemed highly desirable in aristocratic circles.
3. No airs and graces
He shunned university to pursue a career in hospitality and his first job was working in a pub. It’s believed his down-to-earth nature is what initially attracted Eugenie, who’s often described as a “reluctant royal”.
4. He's a homebody
Despite being part of London’s It crowd, he’s not a fan of the party lifestyle. “I leave work at 11pm and head home. I’m not a big drinker. People think we [Eugenie and I] party a lot but actually we’re very quiet. For me it’s a case of going home and watching a DVD.”
5. In-law approval
Lucky for Jack, it seems he’s already in with Eugenie’s parents, the Duke and Duchess of York. Having spent seven years dating Andrew and Fergie’s daughter, he’s apparently loved “like one of the family”.
