District 9

The genius minds behind the thoroughly entertaining site HowItShouldHaveEnded.com have given the prawns of District 9 the alternative ending treatment - and it's hilarious.

HowItShouldHaveEnded.com is home to a long-running series of short, animated alternative endings to such popular movies as Top Gun, Twilight, Inception and even the much-debated final episode of Lost – all with tongue lodged firmly in cheek.

In the actual ending of District 9, MNU official Wikus van der Merwe (as played by SA's own Sweetie Man, Sharlto Copley) is gradually mutating into a prawn after being 'infected' by their DNA. Christopher, his prawn friend living in the shanty town of District 9, zoomed off to his home planet, promising to come back in three years to help return Wikus to his human state and reunite him with his wife.

But HowItShouldHaveEnded.com has other ideas, and the short also points to a possible sequel idea that director Neill Blomkamp should perhaps consider.

The site also offers handy wallpaper downloads from the D9 short, as well as other films in the series.

* What do you think of the animated Wikus' Saffrican accent? And what do you think should happen in the District 9 sequel (if it ever happens). Get talking below!
