Kevin Costner joins Django Unchained

Los Angeles - Kevin Costner is set for a role in Quentin Tarantino's new western Django Unchained.

The director is reportedly in negotiations with the 56-year-old actor for the role of Ace Woody - a sadistic trainer of slaves who pits fighters against one another - in the cowboy movie, which Jamie Foxx, Christoph Waltz, Samuel L Jackson and Leonardo DiCaprio have already signed up to.

The film tells the story of slave-turned-bounty hunter Django (Jamie) who takes on villains Ace and Calvin Candie (Leonardo), the owners of a Mississippi club and ranch, after being freed by German bounty hunter Dr King Schultz (Christoph), while Samuel will take up the role of Calvin's head slave Stephen.

Kevin, 56, is due to start filming Man of Steel - a reboot of the Superman film series - in Vancouver, Canada, and Chicago in the next few weeks.

He will play Clark Kent's adoptive father Jonathan Kent in the movie, which also stars Henry Cavill as the Man of Steel and his alter-ego Clark, Amy Adams as Lois Lane and Michael Shannon as villain General Zod.
