Cape Town - In the clip, Andreas Damm’s wet eyes glimmer and he visibly shakes as he stands before the court and declares: “I truly loved her”.
It’s a scene South Africans have watched before – in the bail hearing that preceeded Oscar Pistorius’s shocking murder trial, for the Valentine’s Day killing of his model girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp.
The former Paralympian was eventually sentenced to six years behind bars.
Now, the tragedy that gripped the nation has been turned into a TV movie by US channel, Lifetime.
In a trailer released by Entertainment Weekly, actors Andreas Damm and Toni Garrn are seen for the first time in the starring roles.
Here’s what we know about the actor playing fallen hero Oscar Pistorius.
While he lives in New York now, Andreas (31) was actually born in Johannesburg – which is clearly why he seems to be having no trouble emulating that tricky South African accent.
He writes on his website that he has dual citizenship – SA and German – and can speak German and Spanish too. He went to prestigious Michealhouse all-boys school in the KZN midlands.
According to his IMDB page, the blonde-haired, blue-eyed hunk moved to the States in 2005 to go to the University of Pennsylvania. He eventually went to the New School for Drama, graduating in 2012.
Since then, he’s had a stream of minor roles in US shows and movies, including an episode of hit TV show Elementary, opposite Jonny Lee Miller, Lucy Liu.
