Award-winning SA screenwriter to adapt Mandela book for film

Cape Town – Channel24 reported earlier this year that Zelda La Grange's best-selling memoir, Good Morning, Mr Mandela, is being adapted into a film

Maven Pictures announced on Monday that screenwriter Shawn Slovo will adapt the book for screen.

Slovo is the daughter of anti-aparthied fighters Joe Slovo and Ruth First.

She is best known for the film A World Apart, based on her childhood in South Africa for which she won a BAFTA award for Best Screenplay in 1989 and the film won Grand Jury Prize at the 1988 Cannes Film Festival.

Good Morning, Mr Mandela is the true story of Zelda la Grange’s friendship and career with one of the world’s most famous men, Nelson Mandela.
