Cape Town – HBO has given True Detective season 3 the green light.
The network has announced that series creator Nic Pizzolatto will be the showrunner.
According to The Hollywood Reporter Pizzolatto will also direct alongside Jeremy Saulnier.
We reported earlier that Academy-Award winner Mahershala Ali will star as the lead.
Ali will play Wayne Hays, a state police detective from Northwest Arkansas, reports Entertainment Weekly.
According to an official logline the story will centre on "a crime in the heart of the Ozarks, and a mystery that deepens over decades and plays out in three separate time periods."
Pizzolatto said in a statement that he is thrilled to be working with Ali and Saulnier.
“I hope the material can do justice to their talents, and we’re all very excited to tell this story.”
