Former Miss SA Bokang Montjane and her soccer star hubby Siphiwe Tshabalala have launched SB Kids, a kiddies clothing brand which seeks to inspire the African child.
The idea came when Bokang had her son Olwethu and realised what was the fashion on the market for South African kids. “It’s Spider, Ben 10, Batman, and Superman. Each and every time these heroes take off their masks they are not going to look like my son and he will think he cannot be a hero and cannot be great” says Bokang.
The boys clothing line is called Super Shabba which is Siphiwe’s soccer nickname. It is inspired by his history as a young boy who grew up in Soweto and worked hard to become the soccer star that he is today. It seeks to inspire young boys to work hard to reach for their dreams.
Princess Bokang is the character for the girls’ line. She grew up in a village in Limpopo, became independent and got her Miss SA crown before she met her soccer star prince. It is a story encouraging young girls that they can do it on their own.
The SB Kids pop up store will open in Clearwater Mall from 1 December.
