Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters on the all-female Miss USA selection committee

Cape Town - Former Miss Universe Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters has joined the all-female Miss USA 2019 selection committee, alongside 2001 Miss Universe titleholder, Denise Quiñones.

Demi-Leigh was crowned Miss South Africa 2017, and is the second Miss Universe winner from South Africa, following Margaret Gardiner who was crowned Miss Universe 1978.

The Miss USA preliminary competition will take place on Monday, with Sarah Rose Summers crowning her successor during a two-hour event in Reno, Nevada on 2 May.

"Meet this year's #MissUSA Selection Committee: @DemiLeighNP is a South African beauty pageant titleholder and model, she won Miss South Africa 2017 and went on to be crowned Miss Universe 2017," Miss USA, and Miss Teen USA tweeted on Thursday.

Hosted by Nick Lachey and his wife Vanessa Minnillo, the annual beauty pageant consists of an all-female judging panel which includes Ukonwa Ojo and Pat Smith.
