SHE recently made her big-screen debut in the local romcom Love by Chance, but DENISE ZIMBA can’t wait for us to see her on the small screen in upcoming Mnet reality series Wedding Bashers. She is also host of the MTV show Ridiculousness Africa and the star enjoyed part of the show. Denise is also currently hosting music show The Channel O Top 5 Drive.
DRUM caught up with her recently to talk about her journey.
What did Generations teach you? (Denise played the role of Mary on SABC 1 soapie Generations The Legacy)
I learnt to be selective about the kind of work I do and it taught me patience and how to work well with people.
You're very vocal on social media. What are you like away from the limelight?
I’m a very chilled person who loves to cook, clean and relax. I’ll always have a crazy side to me but when the lights and cameras are off, I relax.
Did you feel any pressure after you replaced Boity on Ridiculousness Africa?
I felt no pressure and I don’t see myself as a replacement either. The show needed a change and a little bit of crazy in it and I was ready for it.
What was it like working with Thomas and Ehiz?
Thomas also produces the show and is very intelligent and innovative, while Ehiz is really smart and talented. Of course, I bring in the typical crazy Denise!
Favorite moments from the show?
The entire show was amazing! I’ve always wanted to go to Spain and shooting it there was the highlight of it all.
Tell us about the funniest thing that happened during filming?
The worst moment on the show was when my acrylic nail fell off and Thomas took it and put in his pants. All of this is captured on camera!
What are your plans for the future?
I’m currently working on my album, Wonderland; it should be out soon. The lyrics are emotional and the album tells my story. I’m also a judge on M-Net’s Wedding Bashers. We attend different weddings, rate them and at the end we pick the best one.
