Former Pirates midfielder nabbed with stolen car

Johannesburg - Former Orlando Pirates and Bafana Bafana midfielder, Steve“Chippa” Lekoelea was arrested on Tuesday for driving a suspected stolen vehicle.

Police spokesperson, Captain Johannes Motsiri told The Juice that Steve had been stopped during a stop-and-check operation in Orange Farm on Tuesday afternoon, and had been charged with "fraud and possession of a suspected stolen vehicle."

Johannes says the vehicle Steve was driving was checked and had been found to have been stolen last year in Randburg, Johannesburg.

Steve spent the night in police cells and is set to appear in court on Thursday or Friday this week.

The news comes only hours after another footballer, Kaizer Chief defender Erick "Tower" Mathoho was involved in a traumatic hijacking (more on that here).
