The 2019 Miss SA emphasises the critical need for proactive measures among the younger demographic, particularly in combating the prevalence of HIV.

A staggering 25% of new HIV infections in South Africa afflict women, adolescent girls, and young women aged 15-24, according to UNAIDS.

Equally alarming is the disparity in diagnosis and treatment among young men, heightening the risk of transmission to their partners.

Tunzi's message resonates with urgency, urging the youth to embrace their autonomy and arm themselves with knowledge to navigate healthy sexual behaviours.

"By making informed choices, you are taking the first step in protecting yourself and making a positive impact on your health and the lives of your loved ones," Tunzi asserts, underscoring the importance of informed decision-making in fostering a healthier society.
