Michelle Obama’s book Becoming is set to become the most successful ‘memoir in history’ according to its publisher, Ebony reports.

The book, which was released just five months ago, has already sold more than 10 million copies worldwide.

In the book, Michelle explores her experience from her childhood in Chicago, her motherhood journey while raising daughters Sasha and Malia, as well as her time in The White House during her husband’s, Barack Obama, eight year residency as the American president.

Speaking about the projected sales of the book, Bertelsmann Publishing house chief executive Thomas Rabe said, “We believe that these memoirs could well become the most successful memoir ever.”

“That makes it our most notable creative success of last year.”

Following its release on November 13, 2018, Becoming sold 725,000 copies on its first day and nearly two million copies in North America within two weeks.

It also broke numerous records, including being the best-selling book of 2018.

Bertelsmann Publishing house are reported to have paid $65 million (R 943 million) to publish books from both Michelle and Barack Obama.

Barack’s book is expected to come out later this year.

In the book, Michelle shared what she believes sets successful people apart. “I've been lucky enough now in my life to meet all sorts of extraordinary and accomplished people - world leaders, inventors, musicians, astronauts, athletes, professors, entrepreneurs, artists and writers, pioneering doctors and researchers,” she wrote.

“What I've learned is this: All of them have had doubters. Some continue to have roaring, stadium-sized collection of critics and naysayers who will shout 'I told you so' at every little misstep or mistake.

The noise doesn't go away, but the most successful people I know have figured out how to live with it, to lean on the people who believe in them, and to push onward with their goals.”
