Mike' The Situation' Sorrentino is living his best life since his release from prison

Cape Town - Mike' The Situation' Sorrentino has served his time and is now a free man.

The Jersey Shore star was sentenced to eight months in prison, followed by two years of supervised release, 500 hours of community service, and a $10k fine for tax evasion earlier this year.

According to PEOPLE, the 38-year-old was released from Otisville Federal Correctional Institution on Thursday.

In a statement to the publication, Mike and his wife Lauren said that they are happy to close this chapter in their lives and thanked family, friends and fans for their support.

"We look forward to continuing our life as husband and wife and working on baby situations," read the statement.

Mike shared his first picture on Instagram since his release. Alongside the snap of himself, his wife and dog, he wrote: "Living my best life with my beautiful wife."

While serving his time The Situation gave fans a glimpse of his life behind bars.

On an episode of Jersey Shore: Family Vacation his cast-mates Vinny Guadagnino and DJ Pauly D visited him, while they couldn't film on the property, they filled fans in after their visit.

In an interview with SiriusXM's The Jenny McCarthy Show in April, the pair revealed that Mike was serving time with disgraced Fyre Festival organiser, Billy McFarland and that they play scrabble together.
