WATCH: The world reacts to the royal baby news

Cape Town - People all over the world took to Twitter to congratulate the Duke and Duchess of Sussex on news of their pregnancy.

Kensington Palace announced a royal baby - who is to become seventh in line to the throne - is to born in the spring (autumn in SA) of 2019.

PM Theresa May tweeted: "My warmest congratulations to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex on the happy news they are expecting a baby in the Spring. Wishing them all the best."

Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby - who officiated the couple's wedding - also shared his well wishes on the social media site
