Cape Town – In a year of many firsts for the British royal family, Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie of York are sharing a glimpse of their private life in a rare interview with British Vogue.

With milestones of their own – Eugenie’s wedding and Beatrice’s 30th birthday – the royal sisters tell the magazine’s Ellie Pithers about their experiences as young working women who happen to be royal.

“It’s hard to navigate situations like these because there is no precedent, there is no protocol.

“We are the first: We are young women trying to build careers and have personal lives, and we’re also princesses and doing all of this in the public eye,” Beatrice explains.

Speaking about her upcoming wedding, a second this year for the royal family, Eugenie says she isn’t nervous at all.

“I’m not stressed at all. It’s very nerve-wracking because you want it to be perfect but then you realise that you’re going to be with the person you love forever and nothing else really matters.”

The royal – who is set to marry Jack Brooksbank on 12 October – adds that planning her nuptials has been “eye-opening” as she wants her wedding to be plastic-free.

The couple are set to tie the knot at St. George's Chapel in Windsor – the same location at which the Duke and Duchess of Sussex said ‘I do’ a few short months ago in May.
