Cape Town - Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, is tired of her father’s babbling to the press and has no intention of communicating with him at the moment.

Since tying the knot on 19 May, Meghan (37) and Prince Harry (33) have endured a backlash from her father, Thomas Markle (74).

A close friend of the duchess told the Daily Mail that Meghan won’t allow her dad to manipulate her.

“Enough already,” her friend said. "For the life of her she can’t understand why he's digging such a deep hole for himself and to say things like, 'It would be easier for her if her dad died.’

"She said she just wishes her dad would 'stop blathering' to the press. That’s the one birthday gift she wanted from her father."

The source added that Meghan won’t be getting in touch with Thomas any time soon.

“Meghan has no immediate plans to contact her father. Firstly, she's deeply hurt and secondly, she can’t trust him to keep their conversations private,” the source said.

The former Suits actress and her father, who didn’t attend her wedding because of health problems, have reportedly not spoken in three months.

"Meghan is big on being true to herself and taking care of herself and if this means avoiding toxic relationships so be it,” the source adds.

“It’s not like she’s never ever going to speak with her dad again but certainly not now, not in this climate.”

The insider also revealed it wasn’t the first time the actress has had to deal with this kind of behaviour.

“Behaviour like his doesn't happen overnight,” the insider said. “Why do you think her parents got divorced in the first place?

“Meghan's had to deal with a lot of self-esteem issues growing up with a narcissist. She has tools to cope with emotional blackmail. She does pray for him.”

Thomas, a retired Hollywood lighting engineer, also fears he won’t see any grandchildren his daughter and Prince Harry might produce,  Mirror reports.

But Meghan’s father isn’t the only one talking to the press, her half-sister Samantha Grant has also been making waves with her statements to the media.

In a recent article published by The Sun, Samantha spoke about Meghan’s ex-husband, television producer Trevor Engelson, who’s apparently upset about the way he was treated during Meghan and Harry’s romance.

“He said he was devastated, that he felt like a piece of gum at the bottom of his shoe," she said. “He slammed Meg.”

Samantha claimed the reason why Trevor hadn’t spoken out was because he “fears the reaction he’d receive in Hollywood”.

The Duchess of Sussex can’t seem to catch a break.
