Also in cinemas: A terrorist thriller, a human trafficking thriller and Johnny Deep voices a detective gnome.
Here are the 4 new films releasing in SA cinemas today:
Movie: Tully
Our rating: 3/5
Short review: Jason Reitman's Tully, written by Diablo Cody and starring Charlize Theron, gives a rare close-up to postnatal motherhood.
Movie: Beirut
Our rating: 3/5
Short review: Highly competent but derivative, Beirut should work for fans of the terrorism-thriller genre – it's just too bad there's a much more interesting story lying just beneath it.
Movie: Traffik
Our rating: 2/5
Short review: A weird mix of schlocky thrills, romance and a grim look at the horrors of human trafficking, that works about as badly as you would expect.
Movie: Sherlock Gnomes
Our rating: 2/5
Short review: It’s nothing to write home about and was probably not necessary, but Sherlock Gnomes will definitely entertain the kids.
