MUST-READ: Shazam! Star Zachary Levi: 'I can't wait to go to South Africa'
Also showing: A steamy local romantic comedy starring Thando Thabethe, a contemporary Afrikaans film adaptation of Anton Chekhov's classic play 'The Seagull', and a crime-noir film only hardcore fans of the genre will enjoy.
HERE ARE THE 4 NEW MOVIES TO SEE:
Movie: Shazam!
Our rating: 5/5
Short review: Zachary Levi clumsily fell straight into our hearts in this new action-packed film.
Movie: Love Lives Here
Our rating: 2/5
Short review: Love Lives Here subscribes to the old Hollywood "boy meets girl" formula, which means that you can see the plot twists coming before they hit the screen.
Movie: The Seagull (Die Seemeeu)
Our rating: 4/5
Short review: Performed in Afrikaans, with English subtitles, the characters are easily recognised, yet appear as if they were written for this new setting.
Movie: Galveston
Our rating: 2/5
Short review: There is so much to admire in it but Galveston is so deeply unpleasant that it’s all but impossible to actually recommend to anyone but the most hardcore crime-noir fans.
