WATCH: John Kani and Connie Chiume on Black Panther and what the movie means to them

Johannesburg – South Africans were filled with pride to find that a number of local stars would portray characters in Marvel’s highly anticipated Black Panther film. 

Warning: This article contains spoilers from Marvel’s Black Panther. 

The movie, which hit cinemas worldwide on 16 February, not only stars award-winning Kenyan actress Lupita Nyong’o, but SA’s very own Atandwa Kani, John Kani and Connie Chiume. 

Speaking to Channel24’s Nikita Coetzee, John Kani, who plays the role of King T’Chaka, opened up about what Black Panther means to him and what it will mean for our future generations. The legendary actor also told us what he would do if he could get his hands on just a tiny bit of Wakanda’s most precious resource – Vibranium.

Playing the role of the Mining Tribe Elder, long-time actress Connie Chiume says she was blown away by the support she has received from South Africans. The star also let us in on which part of Wakanda she would visit most often if she could.
