Johannesburg – It’s been a long wait for Creed fans, but the second instalment of the movie is finally here. The film opens in South African cinemas nationwide on Friday, 30 November.
Creed II sees Michael B Jordan reprise his role as Adonis Creed, this time with a new foe to take on in the ring - Viktor Drago (Florian Munteanu), the son of iconic villain Ivan Drago.
Just like their onscreen relationship Michael reveals he got offscreen coaching from Sylvester Stallone, saying: "Sly is a very giving person he has a lot of wisdom and a lot of knowledge and lived a lot of life. He's always telling stories or dropping little gems here or there to help me navigate this new airspace that I am in as an actor." (See video above)
In the director's chair Steven Caple Jr. takes over the reins from Ryan Coogler. For Steven it was tough to balance what Ryan and Sylvester did and to put his own stamp on the movie.
"It was the most challenging thing of the project meeting people's expectations because the previous one was so good."
Boxer Florian also felt the pressure stepping into the role of Viktor Drago.
“I felt that I had to bring it. This was my big opportunity to show the world what I am capable of," says Florian.
