2020-03-16 16:47

The Corona Sunsets Festival is the latest event to get postponed as fears over the spread of the coronavirus grows.

"In light of President Ramaphosa’s COVID-19 address on Sunday, Corona and the Corona Sunsets Festival organisers have postponed the March 2020 Cape Town event to protect the wellbeing of the festival attendees," the organisers said in a statement to the media on Monday.

The Cape Town festival, scheduled for Saturday 28th March, will be moved out to a later date in 2020, and all tickets will be valid for that festival. There will be a refund system for ticket holders, with more information on that policy to be shared once it has been confirmed.

"Corona would like to express our continued commitment to provide South Africans with the ultimate sunset entertainment, in the safest manner possible at this trying time," the statement read.

Other recent events cancelled include the Cape Town International Jazz Festival, Lighthouse Family’s South African tour, and AfrikaBurn to name just a few.

President Cyril Ramaphosa in an speech to the nation said that gatherings of more than 100 people are not permitted.
