Jake Gyllenhaal made a cameo on Sam Smith's new album and film buffs will love it

One of the great things about Sam Smith's music is how well thought out and visual their work is. They work hard to give their fans a layered experience with lush sounds that take listeners on a trip.

In a recent interview on The Graham Norton Show, the Oscar and Grammy winner spoke about how Hollywood heartthrob Jake Gyllenhaal re-recorded lines from his breakout role in Donnie Darko (2001) that were featured on Sam's upcoming album To Die For on the song of the same name.

Why did Jake re-record his lines? Well, it turns out, if you lift dialogue from a film you must go through movie studios and their legal teams. Whereas if you re-record, you are free to use it as you will.

In the chat, where Justin Timberlake, Alan Carr and South African dancer Oti Mabuse alongside them, Sam spoke about how they wanted to release an anti-Valentine's Day song, the day before the particular date because they hate the couple dominated day.
