Katy Perry SA tour update: The Dolls and Elle B added as support acts

Johannesburg - Big Concerts announced on Monday that The Dolls and Elle B. are confirmed as the support acts for Katy Perry’s Johannesburg tour dates on 18, 20 and 21 July 2018 at Ticketpro Dome.

Tickets for the show on 20 July are already sold out and other dates are selling fast.

Katy Perry will be performing in South Africa for the very first time as part of her Witness: The Tour and tickets on sale now from Big Concerts.

Here's a closer look at the opening acts, the tour and all the event information you need to know before you go.

EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THE DOLLS:

The Dolls (made up of DJs Mia Moretti and Margot) have spent the last six years DJing and performing around the world, collaborating with artists and musicians across different genres and backgrounds to create one-time special performances and dance music. This summer, they will release the first instrumental single Club Soda off of their forthcoming EP, I.D.M. (Instrumental Dance Music).

HERE'S A VIDEO OF THE DOLLS PERFORMING:

Their EP will feature guest artists including The Original Pinettes (the only all-female brass band from New Orleans), drummers from South Africa, a chamber orchestra from New York City, and street musicians they've met along the way. Mia and Margot pull inspiration from their world travels, collecting field recordings to create samples for each track they create.

ELLE B. AND HER JOURNEY FROM BACK UP SINGER TO SUPPORTING ACT:

During her eight years as Katy Perry’s lead back up singer, Elle B. both entertained millions around the globe and released several auspicious EP’s, each project a seamless fusion of pop, soul and R&B. Now, striking out on her own, she’s poised to show the world the full range of her talents. In 2010, Elle’s voice so captivated Katy Perry that she hired Elle as her lead back up singer.

HERE'S THE LYRIC VIDEO ELLE B.'S SONG, LION:

While touring three of Perry’s highest charting albums (Teenage Dream, Prism and Witness), Elle perfected her vocal and performance chops. On tour, she composed Until the Light of Day and Noire remotely, collaborating with producers and fellow songwriters. Her 2018 EP, NoireBlue, is a multi-genre work that showcases Elle’s beguiling singing and poignant song writing.

MORE ABOUT THE TOUR:

The Tour is an imaginative trip from outer-space to inner-space, from the planets to the bottom of our oceans, and a musical journey through Katy Perry’s biggest milestones and mega-hits right up to her latest album. The dramatically original staging means that there isn’t a bad seat in the house, when Katy brings out her band and dancers, along with all the bells and whistles. The Tour is Katy’s first run since the sold-out, 151-date Prismatic World Tour, which concluded in 2015.
