Cape Town – Victoria Beckham is wishing the Spice Girls well after the girl group announced their tour dates.

Melanie Brown (Scary Spice), Emma Bunton (Baby Spice), Geri Horner (Ginger Spice), and Melanie Chisholm (Sporty Spice) announced six UK stadium dates scheduled for June next year via a post on the group’s Instagram page on Monday.

Victoria - known as Posh Spice in the band - shared their announcement, adding that she will not be joining the tour.

“Today marks a special day for the girls as they announce the first tour dates since we performed together in 2012! I won't be joining my girls on stage again but being in the Spice Girls was a hugely important part of my life and I wish them so much love and fun as they go back on tour next year,” she wrote.

The Spice Girls split in 2000 after performing for two years as a group of four without Geri (Ginger Spice). All five of them then reunited for a tour in 2007, BBC News reports.

The last time all five of the Spice Girls performed on stage together was at the closing ceremony of the 2012 Olympic Games in London.

In a recent interview with Vogue Australia, Victoria revealed that it was actually Elton John who prompted her decision to leave the Spice Girls.

“I was with Elton John this weekend and I told him: ‘You’re the reason why I stopped the Spice Girls.’”

Further explaining why, the 44-year-old said she witnessed Elton’s passion for singing and just felt as though she didn’t have that about singing.
