In an interview with Zane Lowe, US singer John Legend opened up about the struggle for artists during social distancing, how he has been spending his time at home, and what it has been like working with some of the biggest names in music throughout his career.

With people around the world being encouraged to stay home during the coronavirus pandemic, many singers have been using this time to create content online, reach out to their fans virtually, and of course, spend some more time with their families. Things have been no different for John Legend.

Speaking to Zane Lowe on Apple Music, John touched on some of the difficulties he has experienced as a performing artist during this time.

"So much of what we do requires other people being around, and as much as we want to connect to people it's not as easy to do it this way as it would be otherwise, but we're trying to make the most of it, and we've been trying to help people get through this time by giving them some music, some inspiration, spreading some love. We're just hoping everybody stays safe and stays healthy, and we all get through this, and then we can go back to getting together for concerts and doing all the things that we love doing with our audiences."

The bright side is that the musician now has more time to hang with his family. And, according to him, the kids are "loving it".

"I think they love that I'm home so much and that mom is home much too, so they're loving it."

During the interview, John also spoke about having the chance to work with Aretha Franklin, playing the piano on Lauryn Hill's Everything is Everything, and working with a young Kanye West.

"By the time he came out and really started to blossom as an artist, it was just a phenomenal thing to be a part of, and it put me on a pathway to be able to release my own music as a solo artist and have the career I've had," he said about his collab with Kanye.

Not only is he an amazing singer, he's a great cook, too! And in case you wanted to try them out, his recipes are all in wife, Chrissy Teigen's, cookbook.

"Oh, I can cook all over the place. I'm good on the griddle and the grill and I can do whatever I need to so. I don't make up a lot of recipes, but I'm good at following a recipe and executing very well. Then occasionally I'll write my own recipe. Well, nothing, you know, invented. It's just my own variation. Like I have my own fried chicken, I have my own mac and cheese that I make," he says about his culinary skills.
