Cape Town - Miley Cyrus gave a "very raw and emotional" performance in Black Mirror, according to the show's creator Charlie Brooker.
The 28-year-old will play a former child star in an upcoming episode titled: Rachel, Jack and Ashley Too in the fifth season of the anthology season.
In an interview with SFX, Charlie said that Miley related to the character and had useful observations of her own. Executive producer Annabel Jones added that it was one of the best performances Miley has ever done.
The Wrecking Ball singer told BBC Radio 1 Newsbeat that this is the story of females in the music industry.
"I understand everyone’s gone through this but I do think for females in the industry… it’s hard to be taken seriously. People assume that if you’re not wearing a body suit and singing pop music, why would anyone want to see you," said Miley.
The episode in which Miley stars was filmed in South Africa last year.
