Supernatural to end after season 15

Cape Town – The CW has announced that the dark fantasy series, Supernatural will end after its upcoming 15th season.

The show which premiered in 2005 tells the story of two brothers, Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) Winchester who take over their family business after their mother dies. That family business is to hunt demons, ghosts, monsters, and other supernatural beings.

On Friday, Jared released a video on his witter account captioned: "Hey #SPNFamily here’s a little message from @JensenAckles @mishacollins and me. I’m so grateful for the family that’s been built because of the show. Excuse me while i go cry.

"We have some big news that we wanted y’all to hear from us", says Jared. Jensen continues: "We just told the crew that though we’re very, very excited about moving into our 15th season, it will be our last…We wanted you to hear from us that though we’re excited about next year, it will be the finale, the big grand finale of an institution."

"The support we have had from both Warner Bros Television and The CW has been incredible. We’d like to give special thanks to Jensen, Jared and Misha for making this journey so special. It is now most important to us to give these characters that we love the send-off they deserve."

The final season will have a 20 episode run. A premiere date has yet to be announced.
