Cape Town - A new Miss South Africa will be crowned at Sun International’s Sun Arena at Time square in Pretoria on 27 May.
As the top 12 finalists prepare to strut they stuff for that Miss SA crown, we count down previous winners and participants who found fame in alternative ways after the pageant.

Local TV personality Bonang Matheba has been announced as the host of the 2-hour 60th anniversary, Diamond Jubilee, pageant.
LET'S TAKE A LOOK:
1. Pearl Thusi
The self-proclaimed Mama Panther is no stranger to beauty pageants.
Back in 2003, she took part in the Miss SA Teen competition where she became the first runner-up. Two years later she tried her luck in the Miss KwaZulu-Natal pageant where she emerged victorious in 2005.
2. Bridget Masinga
Local actress and radio personality Bridget Masinga placed third in the 2002 Miss South Africa pageant.
The 37-year-old beauty is best known for her role on the local soapie Generations as well as for hosting Workzone 1 with Bridget Masinga on Jacaranda FM.
3. Phuti Khomo
TV and radio personality Phuti Khomo rose to fame after being crowned Miss SA Teen in 2002.
The former beauty queen is known for playing the role of fashion designer Carol Chabeli on the SABC2 soapie Muvhango and has appeared on several smaller TV shows.
4. Cynthia Shange
Best known for her role as Mankosi on the SABC2 sopaie Muvhango, the veteran actress was a beauty queen before she became an actress.
In 1972, Cynthia Shange won the Miss Black South Africa pageant.
She also became the first black beauty queen to represent South Africa at the Miss World competition in 1972.
5. Chante Jantjies
The SABC news anchor bagged herself the title of Miss SA teen in 2009.
before becoming a force to be reckoned with when she won the Miss Teen Universe competition in the same year.
At the age of 21 she became the youngest news anchor on the weekend breakfast show, Vuka Africa Weekend, on ANN7.
6. Babalwa Mneno
Babalwa Mneno is a model and reality star who was crowned runner-up to Peggy-Sue Khumalo in the 1996 Miss South Africa pageant.
Aside from her modelling career, Babalwa also owns her own hair salon.
7. Celeste Khumalo
Local TV personality Celeste Khumalo played the much-loved (and hated) Linda, on the Mzansi Magic show, The Queen. She is the face of skincare brand ponds.
The local beauty won the title of Miss SA Teen in 2011.
8. Zizo Tshwete
We all loved Zizo Tshwete on Selimathunzi. Her infectious smile and bubbly personality won her the hearts of many South Africans.
But did you know she was crowned Miss SA Teen in 2006?
