One of the biggest
award ceremonies in Africa took place at the Eko Convention Centre in Nigeria
over the weekend, and two of our stars walked off with the biggest gongs.
The Soundcity MVP Awards
Festival saw popular gqom musician Busiswa as well as Fela in Versace hitmaker
AKA walk off with the biggest awards.
Busiswa bagged the best
female award and took to Instagram to express her excitement.
“Bathi Sebenzis' umuthi Lord! I want to caption
this "NINYILE KE NGOKU" .. but I know not everyone knows my humor
& how I would actually say that with a young eye roll, so in order not to
sound rude I'll just say, "I'm humbled*not my real location*,” she wrote.
While Supermega took home the best african hip hop award for his Touch My Blood album that dominated charts across borders last year.
“2019 is all about INTERNATIONAL tings,” he captioned a picture on Instagram.
Other winners
include Nigeria’s Burna Boy, WizKid and Tiwa Savage, as well as A-Star, who’s Kupe
Dance track led to the #KupeChallenge.
