Cape Town - They’re the family everybody loves to hate.
But whether you despise the Kardashian/Jenners and consider them talentless, or adore reality TV’s royal family, you can’t deny there’s something about them that seems to draw the masses.
Every year momager Kris Jenner and her genetically blessed clan dramatically pose for a family Christmas card.
What started out as a tradition has now become more of a promotional stint and the level of glam and drama has been upped over the years.
We take a look at how the annual Kardashian/Jenner holiday card has evolved and how, one by one, some of the family members have disappeared from the snaps.
THE EARLY ’80s
Smiles abound as the original Kardashian crew happily poses for the camera. Robert Kardashian, the celebrity lawyer who represented OJ Simpson during the murder trial of OJ’s wife Nicole Brown, was still alive and married to Kris Kardashian.
LATE ’80S
’91 – NEW, HAPPY FAMILY
With her divorce from Rob Kardashian finalised, Kris posed with the new man in her life, Bruce Jenner. The picture features all their kids from previous marriages, and was a perfect example of what a blended family is.
’95 – AND BABY MAKES EIGHT
Clad in all white, the Kardashian/Jenner clan looked festive as they smiled for the camera. Baby Kendall was a cute addition to the fab family. Though we’re wondering why Bruce sported a tick polo neck when the rest of the family were giving off summer vibes.
2003 – IT’S BLACK AND WHITE
Kendall and Kylie Jenner made cute appearances in the family’s black-and-white card. The smiles might be few and far between because it’s also the year Rob Kardashian Sr died of oesophageal cancer.
2008 – GLAM SQUAD
The Kardashian/Jenners were in full glam for this one, and rightfully so. Their reality show, Keeping up with the Kardashians, dropped the previous year and secured them fame and an increasing fortune. The picture signalled a new era for the gorgeous family – and it was only about to get better.
2010 – DRAMA FOR DAYS
Shot by the talented Nick Samblingini, the Kardashians, Jenners, Odoms and Disicks upped the drama in a sombre picture. Scott Disick, Kourtney’s now ex-boyfriend and baby daddy, and Lamar Odom, Khloé’s now ex-husband, made it on the card. Stealing the show, however, was little Mason (Kourt and Scott’s son), who looked adorably dapper in a tailored suit!
2011 – ICE COLD
The family once again opted for a strangely solemn picture that looked icier than the promotional poster for an evil Disney movie. Lamar, Scott and tiny Mason were again featured in the snap.
2012 – HAPPINESS ALL AROUND
Finally a picture that screamed festive cheer! This time, Kourtney and Scott’s second-born, Penelope, made her card debut.
2013 – THE WTF? CARD
Shot by Kanye West’s favourite photographer, David LaChapelle, this picture had such a lot going on that we’re still struggling to figure out what’s what. Sadly, this was the last card to feature any of the Kardashian/Jenner men. Bruce, who divorced Kris in 2015, is weirdly stuffed into plastic tube-like structure in this card.
2015 – THE KIDS
A slightly different Christmas card but adorable nonetheless. The family’s 2015 Christmas card featured no one but the grandkids, (from left) North West and Penelope, Mason and Reign Disick.
