Cape Town - Comedian Tumi Morake’s sister has been hospitalised after she was allegedly assualted.
Tumi spoke out about the abuse in a tweet and described the injuries her sister sustained after the alleged dispute.
“I am in the East Rand at a hospital as my sister is being treated for burn wounds after having her head pounded and thrown on the floor in front of her toddlers,” she wrote.
“My heart is bleeding. I won’t call men trash, but my God you can do better men.”
The star said that although she will not stand behind the term, “men are trash”, she is calling for men to do better.
Speaking to Drum, she said she could not comment at the moment because legal action is still being taken.
Tumi, who herself is a rape survivor, decided to speak out publicly, as abuse directed to women has become an ongoing epidemic in South Africa.
