Cape Town - Filmmaker Tyler Perry is extending a helping hand to the family of a single mother of four, Tynesha Evan, who died after her boyfriend allegedly shot her.
The 45-year-old woman was killed on Saturday morning outside a bank near Atlanta in the United States, reports the Daily Mail. Her boyfriend, Othniel Inniss, was arrested at the scene.
The family was reportedly going through a tough time financially and were close to being evicted from their apartment building. Two of her children are still minors, according to the family’s GoFundMe page, which was set up after the tragic shooting.
WSB-TV reports that Tyler Perry heard of the family’s fundraising appeal and offered to fly Tynesha’s body to Wisconsin where she will be buried. The Hollywood mogul also took it upon himself to cover her 18-year-old daughter Sharadiant Turner’s tuition fees so that she can continue her studies at Spelman College in Atlanta.
One of Tynesha’s other children, Audrey Turner, described the special moment when Tyler called her to the news station.
“It was a call I wasn’t even going to answer. I said, ‘Well, let me answer it to see who it is’. I answered and the person on the other end said, ‘This is Tyler’. I said, ‘Tyler who?’ and he said, ‘Tyler Perry’,” Audrey recalled. “At that point, I just broke down crying.”
Tynesha’s daughter explained how the heartbreaking event came about. Their mother was struggling financially, and her boyfriend had offered to help her pay rent. He asked Tynesha to meet him at the bank to get the money, but allegedly shot her instead.
The mom was a fulltime health-care worker and an author. The family have lost their breadwinner and are very grateful for Tyler’s giving heart.
Tynesha’s 14-year-old daughter, Shakemia Turner, called Tyler “an angel on Earth”.
The suspect has been charged with murder.
