Actor Oros Mampofu has thanked his Rhythm City character Banele for teaching an important lesson in life.

The actor who recently joined the etv soapie plays a young Eastern Cape-born Banele, a rural Xhosa man whose family relies on social grants to sustain their daily lives. He moves to live in Joburg after securing a bursary to study at a university in Johannesburg.

Banele is the first person in his family to go to university and that becomes both a great privilege and a massive responsibility as his family heavily relies on him for help. Being the sole bread winner is no joke and Banele quickly finds himself working as a recycler in order to send money back home.

Taking to his Instagram page Oros wrote about how his character has impacted him.

“Banele from Rhythm City taught me one very important lesson that has guided me ... KEEP ROLLING WITH THE PUNCHES... The light is just over the horizon,” he wrote.

The new dad went on to add that anyone going through life’s tussles and toils ought to learn from this character too.

“To anyone facing challenges out there... Please share this lesson with me. Thank you Banele,” he added.
