Cape Town - Actress Brenda Ngxoli (38) suffered abuse in the entertainment industry three years ago.

The seasoned actress tells Move! she was fondled by a female colleague and had two other men behave inappropriately on a TV set. She shares that all three perpetrators worked on the same production she was working on at the time.

LEARNING TO FORGIVE

It’s been three years since the Home Affairs actress suffered the emotional and sexual abuse, and she’s still healing to this day. She recalls an incident where a white male called her a "k***** meisie" and says she reported the incident only to be told that the man was not capable of uttering such words.

She says on two other occasions, she had male and female counterparts touch and behave inappropriately towards her. "I used to be upset and ask myself why it had to happen to me, but I knew that in order to free myself I had to move on," she says.

SPIRITUAL SIDE

Brenda is in touch with her spiritual side. She says in order for her to maintain her spiritual health, she had to leave the Johannesburg city life and go back to the Eastern Cape. She owns a crop and animal farm in the village, and says she took advantage of her time in the village to heal, get in touch with her inner self and take a break from TV. The actress is back in the city and she’s also back on TV. She’s now on 1Magic’s The River.

"I was able to accept that I had been hurt and never received any apology from all three of my perpetrators, I apologised to myself and learnt to forgive," she tells Move!

HER LIGHT SHINES BRIGHT

The former Our Perfect Wedding presenter is turning 39 this year, and she’s looking forward to hitting the big 40.

She tells Move! she feels younger than her actual age, and jokingly says it’s because she’s not married and doesn’t have a child. She shares that she does want to get married and have a family of her own.

"I have been heartbroken so many times and I still believe in love. I definitely want to get married and have kids. My problem has always been that I don’t want to have children out of wedlock," she says. She says she’s not pressured to have children, saying she has learnt to define success in her own way. “I’ve been given my own script and it’s important that I surrender to my journey,” she says.
