Johannesburg – After many fans took to social media to demand that Metro FM "bring back DJ Fresh", the presenter posted a video on his Twitter account thanking everyone for their support and promising to break his silence on why he has not returned to the station.
It's been a few weeks that DJ Fresh has been absent from his Fresh Breakfast morning show on Metro FM.
Speaking to The Juice in mid-June, SABC spokesperson Vuyo Mthembu confirmed that the presenter had been "unscheduled on Metro FM until further notice," but declined to comment on details surrounding the suspension, saying that "the matter is between the organisation and DJ Fresh."
In the video shared on Twitter, Fresh apologised for the "wall of silence" surrounding the situation.
"It's been three weeks of not knowing what the heck is going on. It's been as frustrating for you as it has been for me. But truth be told, one of the main reasons there's such a massive silence is because we're at an impasse with the corporation. At this stage, I can't even tell you whether this impasse is breakable," he said, not giving any detail on exactly what the issues are.
But the DJ says he is determined to break the silence.
"But to all of you that have supported my career, whether it was from January, from last year, from 1997 or 1992, you deserve better than the silence, and I'll break it, watch this space."
