Former 'Backstage' actor Sibusiso Radebe (37) dies

Cape Town - Former Backstage actor Sibusiso Radebe has died at age 37.

According to his manager Wesley Garner, Sibu had been battling cancer for two years.

Speaking to Move! he confirmed the tragic news and said the actor's family is still putting together a public statement.

"Sibu has passed away. We can’t speak for the family. They are still getting things together," he said.

He was best known for his role as Vusi on the e.tv series, Backstage. He played the leading role from 1999-2004.

According to TVSA, he has acted in numerous TV series including Mzansi, Stokvel, Home Affairs, Mtunzini.com, City Ses'la and SABC 1 drama series Gaz'lam.

Radebe was born and grew up in Soweto and started his professional TV career at the age of 12.

He was also a presenter on SABC 1 children's show YoTV.

Friends and colleagues have taken to social media to pay tribute to the actor.

"I'm going to miss so much Sbu Diva, our daily conversations, your constant encouragement and you constant care," Claudia Maluleke wrote.
