The Akhumzi Jezile Foundation has embarked on a new campaign that will assist pupils in obtaining their driver’s licenses.
The foundation, which was launched a year after the TV personality’s tragic death, aims to change road behaviour on the roads, provide support and educate road users to make smart road choices.

In an effort to provide support, the foundation has launched the ‘Get Your License On’ campaign which will fund learners’ licenses as well as driver’s licenses for pupils who are currently in grade 11.
In a video posted by the foundation on Twitter, one of the late Akhumzi’s close friends, Musa Mthombeni, shares details on how the campaign will work.
“The campaign is open to the Gauteng Province only. Applicants must be in Grade 11, write a 500-word essay on road safety and motivating why having a driver’s licence is important for you.Send an email to :[email protected]. Copy of ID your & residential address,” the caption reads.
In a previous post, the foundation highlighted the importance of having a driver’s license and urged pupils to follow their social media pages so they could participate.
“Having a valid driver’s licence is no longer a “nice-to-have”, but a “must-have”. It is because of this that the Foundation is launching the Get Your Licence On campaign.Follow our social media pages for more information on this campaign and how you can participate,” they wrote.
The former YO.TV presenter and Tempy Pushas actor, Akhumzi Jezile along with four others died following a horrific car accident on the N6 near Queenstown in April 2018.
Speaking to DRUM last year, Akhumzi’s friend Alex said that he and Akhumzi’s mother, Zoleka Jezile would be channeling their pain by launching the Akhumzi Jezile Foundation.

“We wanted to focus on the human side of road accidents and the effect it has on the people who are left behind,” Alex explained.
“I want people to learn to give back and give of themselves like he did.I want the foundation to help us continue his legacy of giving back to the community. He gave back willingly and never advertised it and that’s how we should be," he concluded.
